View Article  CHRISTMAS TIME BUT DO NOT FORGET LOVED ONES IN ZIMBABWE

It is that time again when we have to say to all of you Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous new year. Time flies so they say. It seems like yesterday when I sent you Christmas wishes last year. 2007 is coming to end and when we look back we can only say thank you to everyone who has supported us in meeting our targets to help the Zimbabwean diaspora to support the medical needs of their loved ones back home. We have had our ups and downs but overall it was a good year. We managed to bring smiles to hundreds of worried Zimbabweans and our hearts goes to those who lost their beloved ones regardless of all the efforts of the medical practitioners. We all have to learn that God is the only one who determines our lives. We can do our best as medical practitioners but we cannot stop death when it is meant to happen. We will try to do our best and no one can blame us for not trying. We would like to encourage all the people out there never to give up supporting the medical care of your loved ones in Zimbabwe. They might abuse the money that you are sending them. If that is a problem please contact BEEPEE Medical Services and they will be happy to help you. Your relatives will receive a dedicated medical package whilst you are making payments in the United kingdom. BEEPEE Medical services has been running since August 2006 and is growing from strength to strength.

Please remember as you eat that roasted turkey that there are loved ones in Zimbabwe who need your support and that pound you are throwing down may make a difference between life and death.

Till then do take care.

View Article  Start the new year by sending health to your loved ones in Zimbabwe

Zimbabwean husband and wife medical team Brighton and Prisca Chireka have developed a project which will take the anxiety and stress out of arranging for Zimbabweans in Britain to secure and pay for medical care for friends and relatives at home.

They are directors of Beepee Medical Services Ltd (BPMS). This firm deals with the way Zimbabwe’s rocketing inflation and declining economy have impacted on access to medical services.

Because of the economic hardships Zimbabwe people have become heavily dependent on friends and relatives in other countries but asking those people for help and receiving money from them can be very difficult. BPMS deals with these problems quickly, efficiently and effectively.

Within 48 hours of the initial contact and payment in Britain BPMS , using their extensive medical and administrative connections , make the medical appointment in Zimbabwe .

The appointment must be paid for in Britain in advance . Zimbabwe doctors and other medical practitioners need cash in advance before being prepared to commit themselves to seeing people whose care is to be paid for by relatives in other countries.

This is due to the dreadful rate of inflation in the country which means there must be no delay in making payments for any transaction. BPMS ensures the necessary funds are transferred straight to the doctor quickly and takes care of all the other administrative arrangements.

Anxiety for a person in Zimbabwe who needs medical help but is relying on someone in Britain or elsewhere to pay for it is thus removed. BPMS finds the doctor and has a qualified accountant who ensures the money is transmitted promptly.

The person in Zimbabwe who would otherwise have to find a doctor for him or herself and then arrange with a friend or relative in Britain or elsewhere to pay for it , all the while having to make international phone calls to someone who may not be easily contactable, is freed from this stress.

Dr Chireka is registered with the UK General Medical Council. He has over seven years experience working in the medical field as well as in charitable organisations. Mrs Chireka is a community nurse registered with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council .

They live in Canterbury , Kent where Dr Chireka works at the local hospital

View Article  BACKGROUND TO BPMS LTD

                 BACK GROUND TO BPMS LTD

It is estimated that there are between 500 000 and 1 million Zimbabweans in the UK and about 90% of them remit their money monthly to Zimbabwe. The Zimbabwean Diaspora use different methods to remit their funds. Some use official channels and others use the black market because of its lucrative rates. The black market is not without risks as some have lost their funds to unscrupulous dealers. The funds remitted are used for the day to day up keep of relatives and friends in Zimbabwe. Some of the funds are used for investments particularly in the property industry.

The cost of living is now very high in Zimbabwe with inflation rising. Many people are failing to make ends meet and the fortunate ones rely on relatives in the UK. There is so much pressure on the Zimbabwean Diaspora from relatives back home who are always crying for help. This has resulted in some Zimbabweans in the UK overworking to meet the demands from loved ones who are back home. Some people are working more than 60 hours a week to boost their wages. This overworking can have disastrous effects. Some have found themselves admitted to hospitals because they could not tolerate the abuse any longer.

So many groups have come up with ways of helping the Zimbabwean Diaspora. The Diaspora does not have the time so any initiative that saves them time will be greatly welcomed. A group of genuine business people have teamed up to help the Diaspora remit their hard earned pound to Zimbabwe. The business people have gone further in bringing a lot of services to the Zimbabwean Diaspora. Most of these services are now available on Internet and people do not need to leave their houses or make endless calls.

BPMS LTD has taken this initiative further by providing a service to the Zimbabwean Diaspora.

BEEPEE MEDICAL SERVICES LTD (BPMS) was established in August 2006 UK as a provider of quality and affordable occupational health and well being services. The business has successfully expanded and now is involved in a project that enables Zimbabweans in the Diaspora to support the health care and medical needs of family and friends back home.  BPMS has teamed up with medical service providers in Zimbabwe who will be providing a service to BPMS clients. The project saves the Zimbabwean Diaspora from making endless international phone calls back home and from taking time off work. We have a dedicated team that takes all that hassle away from our clients. We promise to deal with our clients requests within 72hrs and if we fail we will refund our clients.

We pay our service providers in advance so that our clients are provided with the best care because the service providers will have been paid their fees. We will handle our clients’ health needs from consultations, including investigations, and medications up to admissions. We will help our service providers to source medicines and medical equipment outside the country if it is not available locally.

Our Harare office will handle all the local inquiries whilst the UK office will deal with all the payments and inquiries in the UK.

BPMS promise to take the hassle away from its clients by taking over everything as soon the payments are made in the UK. Our dedicated team in Zimbabwe will handle the appointments and find a service provider who is nearest and suitable to deal with the needs of our clients. This whole process should be finished within 72hrs.

View Article  WORLD AIDS DAY

We are now approaching  World Aids Day  which is on the 1st of December. BEEPEE MEDICAL SERVICES will be running a few articles on this blog to raise awareness to the people out there as part of our community service. We will discuss the ways the company will be helping people to live positively with AIDS.

We all know that the first cases of AIDS in Zimbabwe were identified in the mid -1980s. Today the country is experiencing a generalized HIV epidemic, with an HIV prevalence in the adult population (15-49 years) of about 24.6%.  Recent data from the national surveillance system show a decline in HIV prevalence among pregnant women from 26% in 2002 to 21% in 2004. Changes in sexual behavior appear to have contributed to the decline.

Zimbabwe follows WHO- recommended treatment guidelines for antiretroviral drugs. There are two local manufacturers of generic antiretroviral drugs. Inadequate availability of foreign currency is a major constraint to the pharmaceutical companies in Zimbabwe. The country need a constant supply of antiretroviral drugs. This means that the manufacturers must get a constant supply of foreign currency to procure the raw materials for the antiretroviral drugs. The harsh economic conditions and reduced donor support among other problems is hindering the progress of the national response to the epidemic.

We feel that the Zimbabwean Diaspora should play an active role in alleviating the suffering of the people in Zimbabwe. There are many ways by which the Diaspora can help the population of Zimbabwe.

We at BEEPEE MEDICAL SERVICES feel that there is hope for the people living with HIV/AIDS in Zimbabwe. We are prepared to make use of our contacts to help the people in Zimbabwe.

We call upon our customers to think of people that are living with HIV/AIDS throughout the world and Zimbabwe in particular. Remember that each day in Zimbabwe an estimated 564 adults and children become infected with HIV and about 2000 die every week.

We believe that we can bring some change to this, even if we might be 10 000 all so miles away. Together we will help the people in Zimbabwe. What are we doing when our brothers and sisters are dying in Zimbabwe. There is a way of helping the population of Zimbabwe and we will be exploring the options in our next articles.

Lastly as we sit in our adopted homes in the UK we must not forget that we are from Zimbabwe.
